Harriet's Moments

A collection of photos capturing special times with Harriet.

Book club meets Harriet

Mountain View Book Club No. 1 in Fairfield Glade had the pleasure of meeting Harriet on Sept. 15, 2025. I spoke briefly to the club about how I came to write the book. But Harriet stole the show as she strolled among the members, some of whom fed her doggy treats while her co-owner, Jody Farley, answered questions about her. (I didn't mind playing second fiddle to Harriet.) The hostess, Ann Chard, got a chocolate cake with "Harriet" written on it for the occasion. Holding Harriet is Jody, and club members are, from left, Carolyn Merrill, Preston Farquhar, Ruth Farquhar, Ann, Cinda Leber, Linda Anderson and Lesley Whiston.

Where it started

Rick and Sue Griesmann sit on their front porch with a picture of Harriet shortly after they captured her. The story of Harriet started when Sue just happened to see a little beagle dash across the porch in a windy rain storm. (Photo courtesy of the Grismanns.)

At the markets

Sue Griesmann (right) was reunited with Harriet on June 11, 2025, at my space at the Fairfield Glade farmers market. It was the first time she had seen Harriet since she and her husband, Rick, captured her in 2021. With Sue are Harriet's owners, Jody and Amy Farley.

Sue Griesmann gives a heartfelt greeting to Harriet upon seeing her for the first time in four years.

Carole Danielson came out to the G.O.A.T. Cafe's farmers market to meet Harriet again. She remembered seeing Harriet in her Trentwood neighborhood of Fairfield Glade when the beagle was a hobo for nearly six months in 2021.
